July 6 Day 21: Rochester MN to Eagan MN

The final day in Rochester started with breakfast with mom and packing up the car. We had had a very lovely time in Rochester and now it was time to go.

Dick had his regular weekly Zoom call with brother John, sister Marti, and dear friend Gere.  They always enjoy catching up on all that’s been happening.

While Dick was on the call, our nephew, Josh, came over and join Patti and her mom for lunch. So nice just to catch a little more time with family. Then, it was time to get in the car and drive about an hour and a half north to the city of Eagan, where Patti and Dick had lived for several years before moving to California.

We got checked into our hotel and then time for another Zoom call. This time with long-term friends Dennis and Katherine who are living in Boston. So nice to catch up on all of the news both directions. We love our Zoom times when we can’t be together with friends.

Then, we were off for dinner with two of Patti‘s very good friends from her seminary days: Ruth and Phyllis. Dick has his own friendship with these two women now and the four of us delighted in talking pretty much nonstop for the next five hours over a lovely dinner with lots of good stories, and laughing. We enjoyed hearing about what these days of Covid and political unrest have brought for them and for us. We  talked until it was finally time that we just had to head home to our hotel. It’s so nice to be back in the Twin Cities and we will begin several days of meeting with as many friends as we can fit in to this short amount of time.
