Home (Oceanside CA) to Flagstaff AZ

So, we were home for three days after returning from our cruise in Alaska.  Just enough time to do some laundry, get groceries, pay some bills, and water plants.  Dick also managed to write some video scripts and record video lectures for his University.   Then, we were getting ready for summer trip #2: 30 days on the road. This time it is to New Mexico, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, Toronto, Ohio, and then a long drive back across the country.  All in all about 7,000 miles or about 11,000 kilometers.  So we have some driving to do, people to see, places to go. We are getting really good at packing the car with everything we are going to need for a good road trip. We got off about noon, and headed on down the road.

So, the first 8 hours to Flagstaff is a drive we have done several times.  The drive was uneventful.  Dick and Patti take turns driving.  We have a nice set up on the back of our minivan that allows one of us to take a nap while the other drives.  We both took our turns resting. We laughed, we talked, we listened to a couple of podcasts, and settled into the rhythm of 4 weeks on the road.

Dick and Patti, especially Dick, always like to watch the changes in the scenery.  On this day we traveled across the California desert and onto the plateau of northern Arizona

We checked into the Baymont Hotel that we “always” stay at, had dinner at the Coco’s restaurant that we always eat at, and then fell into bed.  We are both starting this trip tired and ready for some time “off duty.”  Back in the saddle again.  Yeeha!
