Day 20: July 4. Rochester, Minnesota

Kind of a lazy day. We enjoyed going on a couple of walks with Patti‘s brother, Perry and our sister-in-law, Jodie in the woods by Patti's mom‘s house. Always nice for good catch-up time.

After lunch we went out to Jodie’s aunt’s home. She passed away a couple months ago and they’re in the process of clearing out the family home. We received some fun old crocks and jugs. It is sobering going through somebody’s lifetime accumulation of things. It makes us think about continuing our process of going through things we no longer need.

Patti’s mom, Joan, made us a great Fourth of July dinner with ham, fruit salad and corn on the cob. Yummy, Minnesota corn on the cob is always better than what we can get in California.

Dick, Patti, Perry, and Jodie went to the local park to listen to some music and watch the fireworks. Looming clouds and some lightning cause the band concert to end early and the fireworks to start at 9:20 instead of 10 PM.

The fireworks were termed “OK “. They were less spectacular because the sky was not truly dark yet. But fireworks is always fun thing to do on July 4 no matter what. And it was OK to get home by 10:30. Happy Fourth of July.
