Day 17: July 1 Chanhassen, MN, and Chaska, MN

Much of the family gathered for breakfast, and the bride and groom, Jackson and Molly, were able to come and join us. Everyone was so excited for them and their special day.  Especially Molly  had a chance to meet the Texas family that she hadn’t had a chance to meet so far and it was so nice.  Our nieces and nephews are not only very smart, very accomplished young people, they are also all good athletes, AND truly nice human beings.  We couldn't be prouder of them all.

After breakfast, we all went our separate ways for a while. Rob wanted to show his kids the area that he grew up in close by in St. Louis Park. The wedding party women needed to do their hair, along with some fun help and consult from aunties and cousin, Amanda.  Dick  began processing photos from the past day.

Mid-afternoon Patti‘s mom, her brother, Perry, and sister-in-law, Jodie, and their two adults sons, Josh and Matt arrived and checked into the hotel. Everyone who was coming from our side of the family were now in the Twin Cities.

Everyone changed into their fancy wedding clothes and we headed over to the wonderful Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. This is a place that Patti and Dick had been many times and it is a beautiful, beautiful Arboretum and gardens. This would be the location for the wedding. Of course, right away, Patti and Dick pulled out cameras and started shooting pictures in this beautiful setting. Many photos would be taken during this day, nearly one thousand just by us. When it was close to wedding time, we all gathered over at the Rose Garden. It was so nice to see the beautiful day. The temperatures were in the high 80's, but the Texas relatives declared this was cool compared to the 100+ temps they were dealing with.

The wedding was in the Rose Garden and lovely. Patti and Dick really remembered our rose garden wedding (at a different garden) and it was especially nice for us.

Following the wedding, there were hors d’oeuvres and drinks and then everybody moved into the reception area. The food was lovely, everybody looked great. Lots and lots of fun photos, and music and dancing. We were so happy to see how much fun all of the cousins had dancing and singing along with all of the songs.  Us old people danced quite a bit, too. There’s something pretty wonderful about being able to gather in celebration. The party went in till close to midnight, and then it was time to pack up and head back to the hotel. What a great great time. Happy wedding, Molly and Jackson.
