Day 16: June 30 Minneapolis to Chanhassen MN

Patti headed out for a lovely breakfast with dear friend, Diane. They’ve had lots to talk about and it was truly a lovely time to spend the morning together.

Meanwhile, Dick packed up the car and we checked out of our sweet little Airbnb home headed for next adventure.

We were so pleased to have enough time to sneak out to The Landing, formerly known as Murphy’s Landing in the south Twin Cities area. This is a place now owned by the park service.  They do living history reenactments there and have rescued a lot of wonderful old historic buildings. This is a place that Patti and Dick had gone many many times when they lived in the Twin Cities and it was lovely to be back and see the terrific things they have done with this historic site.

Mid-afternoon, we headed over to the hotel for the next couple of nights. The family was now beginning to gather for the wedding. Patti‘s sister, Peggy, her husband, Rob, and two adult children, Amanda and Andrew, flew in and checked into the hotel in time for us all to meet for dinner. We had seen each other in March in Texas for Drew‘s wedding, and now it is Jackson‘s turn. Lots of fun catching up, including hearing about Amanda‘s recent one-month trip to Europe that she just got back from two days before. We also had a conversation about Drew’s honeymoon. That was also a great vacation.

Later that evening, two other of our nieces  and one of the other nephews (the brother and sisters of the groom) checked into the hotel after the rehearsal dinner.  We had a quick reunion in the hallway. It has been many years since all of the cousins had been together. We would get ready for family time the whole next day. Great to have people be able to gather.
