We went along with Mom to the church that she has been a member of for 56 years, Bethel Lutheran Church. Patti and her siblings grew up in that church and it was a very familiar place. It was nice to see some people that Patti knew. And they had quite a nice service including a fine brass ensemble.
After some errands and changing clothes, we headed off to Fairbault, Minnesota, where Patti’s Uncle Jim and Aunt Len have lived for many years. It was a nice drive through the countryside and we paid attention to how the crops were doing. One of the sayings we both grew up with was” knee-high by the Fourth of July”, which is how high the corn was supposed to be in the fields. It appeared mostly to be higher, this week which is good.
We spent a lovely time with Jim and Len and their adult sons Erik and his wife, Sassy, and their son Harold. And Harold’s daughter, Anna, arrived in time for dessert. It was a great time catching up both on our travels and on the adventures of The now nearly grown grandkids. It’s hard to believe that they’re too oldest. Have just graduated from high school with promising futures. How the time flies. The food was great and we all ate so much.
We took advantage of the time to catch some good photos. The time is so precious and it was nice to be together. We hadn’t been to their home in a number of years so it was nice to be there.
Was an easy drive home on a Sunday afternoon. We were glad to be driving in the sunshine and then spend a nice time in the evening watching the Minnesota Lynx women’s professional basketball team play. All three of us enjoy watching basketball. It was an exciting game, and they won. Then off to bed.
