There was some time to sleep in a bit then we went over to John and Beverly‘s for some breakfast. Then it was time for Dick’s sibling/family zoom call. We are pleased to be able to do that from John and Beverly‘s home. These weekly calls have been happening since COVID times. It’s so nice to have that regular time keeping up on what’s going on.
It was a rainy day, so rather than doing some exploring and sight seeing, we went back to our Airbnb and settled in for the afternoon. Napping and working on photos is such a luxury when you are on a long trip. We have now driven more than half of the miles that we will drive during these 6 weeks: over 4,000.
We followed along with some of the news about the votes in Congress about the budget and our future. It is a very sobering time in the USA right now. We both feel very heavy hearts as we wonder how changes in our government will impact our communities.
Then, we met our nephew, Brian, his wife, Laura and daughter Alena for Mexican food. It was especially fun to hear Lena talk about her experiences with studying reptiles in college. She had many tales to tell, including photos of her new snake. Again, really great to see them. We wish we lived closer.
On the way back to our AirBnB we saw an albino squirrel that caught our attention. We ended the evening watching a women’s professional basketball games. The Indiana Fever won. What fun.
