Dick, Patti and Joan decided to skip church so that we could
see the finals of the tennis tournament.
The weather was lovely, and we had the perfect spot under a great maple
tree from which to cheer the boys on.
They did well: Josh won first place for the 18 year old and
under group (even though he is just 13 years old).
Matt fought hard in the
championship round to come in second place in the men’s division. We are so super proud of these boys, as well
of all of our amazing super terrific nephews and nieces who live in Rochester
and elsewhere around the country and in Canada.
Mid-afternoon we said our goodbyes, having loaded our van
back up, and headed for several days up to “The Cities” as Minneapolis and St.
Paul are referred to in Minnesota.
We were so pleased to be back in our old stomping grounds where
we lived for many years before moving to California. Especially in the summer, this is such a wonderful
place.
Evening found us having dinner with a couple that we so
enjoy, Scot and Flo. First for drinks at
their home, and then to a new restaurant, The Tiny Diner. Lovely company and food. We had a fun
surprise, having brought along with us a bag of beads and other parade “throws’
from our trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras this past February. One gift to Flo was a small plush toy in the shape of a Slurpee with the word "Muse" on it.
Our waitress, at this south Minneapolis restaurant immediately
asked if the small plush toy was from the Muses parade in New Orleans.
As it turns out, she is from New Orleans and had recently moved to
Minneapolis by way of New York. We all
put on our Mardi Gras beads in celebration.
What fun!
Then off to stay at our home away form home, at our friend
Randy Beard’s house n South Minneapolis. Thank you, Randy for your always kind hospitality.
This will be our home-base for the next several days.
