Both of us felt a
huge relief to have a day with no responsibilities, no tourists, no excursions.
Only resting, soaking it in and a little bit of preparing for the rest of the
trip.
What did we do
today? We rested. Actually, we took the opportunity to attend couple of the
port planning sessions. We found that used to be great introduction sessions as
well as some good logistics about where does the ship dock, how to get into
town, and some good local tips. There were two more sessions today which Patti attended.
Dick took
advantage of going to the “ask the captain” session. He appreciated the
technical information provided by the captain a half-hour presentation about
how the ship operated and then he answered questions for another 40 minutes.
And he also had a
nice cup of tea with a fellow passenger that we had talked with in St.
Petersburg.
We had a special
dinner tonight at The Pinnacle. This is one of two premium restaurants on
board. As part of our package with our travel agent we got two nice dinners at these
restaurants. Tonight was the night that we began to celebrate our 25th wedding
anniversary. We took a rather early reservation, and because tonight was the
final gala night in the main dining room, it was quieter in the fancy
restaurant and relaxed atmosphere. Our waitress, Olga, from the Ukraine, was
lovely. We had beautiful food including some wonderful seafood. Patti loved her
Alaskan King crab legs. It was lovely settled in with the ocean behind us and
just enjoying being together and celebrating how happy we are to all these
years later still be on a grand adventure together. The food was good, the
company even better and we topped it off with a baked Alaska. Too much food,
but all was delicious.
We thought about
catching some entertainment, but our colds and coughing called us back to our
room for early to bed night. Happy anniversary!
