The other four went off the church, while Dick and Patti
slept in until nearly 10. We then went
over to Notre Nam and walked around the outside, took photos (surprise!), and
enjoyed crowd watching until we all six met up for a nice afternoon.
We walked to the Flower Market, which on Sundays is also the
Bird Market, filled with cages of exotic (and not so exotic) birds, as well as
flowers and gifts. It was fun strolling and enjoying Paris. We talked to shop keepers, enjoyed the flowers and birds, and bought a few fun things to take home with us..
We ate lunch at an Italian restaurant, and then went to The
Luxemburg Gardens, a large park with a palace, and so many people relaxing and
enjoying the Sunday afternoon. We were especially interested in watching people
rent mini-sailboats and sailing them around a pool, guiding them with bamboo
poles. Very low-tech fun. The people
watching was great. Lots of families,
and friends. We watched a type of lawn
bowling, fencing, and chess. Patti also
got the chance to sing along with a Beatles song that some young people were
playing guitar and singing…until we were stopped by a police officers for
playing music without a permit.
Darn. It was a lovely park.
Then we walked to St. Suplice Church, which was one of the
churches featured in The Da Vinci Code. It was less scary than in the movie, but fun
to see it none-the-less. In Paris, there are great churches every time you turn around.
We walked through a number of neighborhoods and finished up
another lovely day in Paris. We had an easy dinner back at the apartment of
scrambled eggs and take out Chinese food.
Less walking today, but still miles and miles. There is a lot of walking in Paris.

religion and avoid the people, you might better stay at home.” — James Michener
